Painted Dogs Fine Art Print
This piece features two adorable African Painted dogs ,also known as African Wild dogs, casually leaning on one another in a playful way. I used layers of colour pencil to capture all of the textures and details of their fur and left them on a plain background so all of the focus is on the pups.
These fascinating dogs live in packs living on the plains of Africa in packs numbering from 10 and even up to 40. They are incredibly social animals and are hugely protective of their pack with elders sacrificng their food to the younger pups to ensure their survival. Each dog has unique markings that look almost like paint splatters, hence their moniker! Unfortunately they are on the ICUNs endangered list as their numbers are threatened by larger predators, a diminishing habitat and accidental or purposeful death by humans often when they come into contact with people whose livelihoods depend on agriculture and livestock.
The print was produced using the Giclee method which replicates the original artwork with great accuracy, printed on 310 gsm archival Hahnemuhle German Etching paper to ensure the highest quality.
